Royal Rangers Regional Centers
The field is empty, except for a stand of trees, when the old Soviet-style bus grinds to a stop and unloads boys, tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, water tubs, and boxes of food.
Leonid Salomatin picks up the ram’s horn and blows it, organizing the boys into teams to accomplish the necessary tasks to ready this Outpost for a Royal Ranger gathering.
The ground in Siberia and the Far East doesn’t warm up until July and begins cooling down again in August, making sleeping in a tent in only a sleeping bag a cold proposition. 15 sleeping bags, borrowed from another ministry, were brought by train from Irkutsk, and ten mats were purchased to go under the sleeping bags to make this event a more bearable experience.
By 10 PM the campsite is complete, everyone has been fed, and all are gathered around the fire for the evening service. The discussion centers on dreams and how God gives us the desires of our hearts and fulfills them if we trust in Him.
Several share their testimonies. Vitaly shares how his parents divorced because of his father’s lifestyle, but then his father accepted Christ and his parents got back together. Now his whole family is serving the Lord, and he loves to worship and play the guitar for the Outpost meetings.
Many of the stories are heartbreaking at the beginning but end in testimonies of the power of God to transform lives.
It is obvious Leonid’s strict but loving manner is changing the lives of these boys.
Leonid wasn’t always involved in ministry. In fact, at one time he was a drug addict living on the streets. He accepted Christ but several times walked away from the Lord and returned to his old life. Thanks to his wife’s continued prayers, Leonid returned to the Lord for good and was established in the church.
While struggling to find his place in ministry, Leonid learned of Royal Rangers. The idea of camping, hiking and sharing his life and faith in Christ with young people energized him. He attended Royal Ranger training, and with his pastor’s permission, opened the Outpost.
Three years later, the Outpost is going strong, and Leonid has become the vice commander for the region. He loves traveling around to other churches sharing the difference Royal Rangers has made in his life and in the lives of the boys to whom he is ministering.
Leonid is where he is today because of the Lord and you. You sowed into his life and ministry by helping to provide Royal Ranger training. YOU are part of the reason he is able to share the love of Jesus and prepare boys like Vitaly for ministry.
Vitaly’s testimony of restoration through a relationship with Jesus Christ is just one testimony of many thousands that are possible because YOU help us train and equip leaders like Leonid.
Thank you!
